Real Estate Investing - Is There Money in It?

If you’ve thought about real estate investing lately, all it takes is one glace at a newspaper or 5 minutes of CNN to change your mind. Economist and experts of all sorts have done their best to paint a dismal portrait of the housing market. Many have heard their warnings and are sitting on their money, allowing it to become dusty while the best investment opportunities are passing them by. But while they sit on their laurels, smart investors are taking advantage of their inactivity and making substantial profits investing in real estate.

True, the housing market has changed dramatically, and making money is not as easy as it used to be. But let’s face it; everyone from the greenest novice to the village idiot was making money in the old housing market. It really didn’t take much skill to negotiate the market and make a profit. In fact, many investors made huge mistakes and still turned a profit. Real estate was golden. Real estate investing seemed to be a no-fail investment opportunity.

Today, the real estate market is far from golden, but it still is lined in silver. There is still money to be made in real estate investing. No, it doesn’t come easy, and there is some risk. But all investments carry some risk. And, just as it has always been, real estate is an extremely stable investment, much more stable than the stock market in these hard economic times.

But profit is not going to come to those that don’t work hard. Real estate investing requires knowledge, skill and strategy. In order to make a profit, an investor needs to know the market and needs to have the skill to negotiate it successfully. Successful strategies are also needed in order to beat the competition. If all three of these points are in place, an investor CAN make money in today’s real estate market.

So, instead of discounting real estate investing because of some negative report obtained through the media or at your local haunt, why not investigate the market for yourself? You may be surprised by how much money is being made by investors of all kinds.
